Why are Petfinder poodles almost always white?

I'm signed up to receive notices of small poodles from shelters in Calif/Nev/Ariz, and more than 90% of the listings I receive are white poodles (and mixes, of course). This seems rather odd. Is this just a regional thing, or is it true of Petfinder overall? Why so many white ones?

About 60% white here in NY, with black, silver and a smattering of apricot filling the rest. Not sure as to why.

I think that for some reason puppymills favor the cream/white ones - I guess that they must sell better in petshops? Around here that is all you see. Once I was in the Vet's waiting room for a half hour and counted five of them come in in a row!

Small White and Fuzzy is known as a large demographic of dogs that interest, uhem, you-know-what-I-mean sort of buyers. Greeders and millers would want to cater to that market. And that's how so many Small White and Fuzzy Poos end up in shelters, is my guess.

Hi
In my area most of the poodles on petfinder are apricot.
I have personally fostered over 30 poodles and several mixes. Most of my fosters have been apricot. Very few silvers, a few black poodles and some white poodles, too.
I'm mostly sorry to hear that you have so many poodles that are available....

It seems like most rescues and shelters get, Minature, White, Male poodles. You see other colors but not that often unless they are from a puppy mill, owner surrenders or a breeder that just can't go on.
