Trimming between paw pads?

I want to get an ink imprint of Archie's paws for some crafty ideas I'm toying with. However, I don't shave his paws (just keep them trimmed), so he's got quite a bit of hair around his paw pads. I'm afraid of it causing a mess and/or getting in the way of the paw print, so I'd like to trim some of the hair back.

I do occasional little trims to clean up the hair around his face, but I wouldn't say I have much grooming experience. Does anyone have tips for trimming hair between the paw pads? Is it something I can easily tackle at home or should I wait until his next grooming appointment before getting started on my project?

Unless going to your groomer is a long distance, or hassle...I'd just have him/her do it for you. Mine has a service called Face/Feet/Tail very reasonably priced for those who like to keep the close cut appearance between full grooms.

I bet you could just have them do the feet, no problem.

Hmmm...our groomer is actually within walking distance, so maybe it would be easier to just take him in. I definitely wouldn't want to nick him.

Do you usually use the clippers or scissors for between the paws?

if the ink you are using is water based it should wash out fairly easily

It's one of those kits they sell for getting baby footprints, so it should wash out. I guess I'm just worried about the hair interfering with the paw print and making it look less clear.

if you happen to have water color paint, as in the tubes) you could do a practice print and see what it looks like
