It's the funniest darn thing that Bella began when she was 5 or 6 months old, and she still does it. I live alone in a 1-BR apartment with her and Misha-cat, yet whenever I'm in the bathroom, she'll walk in and out, standing just outside the doorway.
She looks around, comes back in to tell me we're safe. Then she'll go back out, give a little quiet 'ruff' to warn any potential lions, tigers or bears to stay away. This is never directed at the cat. Misha, like me, looks at her like, "what's up with all that?"
Bella is the only dog I've ever had that does this, and I'll bet she'd be really funny if I lived in a house.
Does your dog resource guard you at home?
