He's doing it because he's insecure (Frosty did too when he first came home). It will subside as he gets used to his new home. Be patient and give him lots of love. And congrats!

 

At this age humping is not at all a sexual behavior. Feeling over excited can also bring on humping. I agree with zooeysmom that it will probably settle down when he feels more settled, but if not don't scold just redirect to something a little more static and calming.

I am glad it is just normal. I thought I was going to have a super dominant puppy.

 

I think of it more as “don’t leave me” in the puppy stage. Everything in his new forever home is new, exciting and a bit frightening. Clingy baby needs to be reassured and redirected in a calm way.

 

I have an 11 week old spoo and he tries to “hug” my leg first thing in the morning when I take him out to pee and it’s still dark. It almost seems like it’s when he’s scared or clingy or missed me. Hopefully it’s rather normal.

 

My baby spoo has “hugged” my leg when overly excited a couple of times a day since I got him. He is slowly doing it less and less at 16 weeks. Your little guy is so cute !
