I was just wondering Olie is almost 6 months now and getting very long, although we love his soft fluffy curls, when is it best to do some trimming? With the pup fur I am sure there's not much you can do as far as patterns:) When do most do the first clips, that are not preparing to show?

It's really up to you how you want him to look.
You could go for the simple puppy clip, or if you like how he is now, you could just get trimming all over to even it up.

Personally I love puppies with longer hair cos you only have the puppy fluff once!

Maybe something like this

Without the big topknot

like here

Here are some pics of Riley when he was about 7ish months old. He probably isnt as fluffy as Olie is. I like the lamb/town and country/whatever cut and think it looks really nice.

I always tell my families not to take the pups coat off too young. Once it is gone, they never look like babies again. But if it is a nuisance, I guess it is better to take it down. No time is better than another, just whenever you have had enough of looking after it, and how long you want your baby to look like a baby.

Thanks Jak for finding those! I like those cuts to BRP and he looks great BTW. Olies dad has really been talking about it but I would love to keep him all baby right now:) I wonder if he will stay this soft? I mean he is SUPER SOFT and does not mat at this point.

I'd say by his coat change around a year old, he'll matt like crazy!
I suggest if you can't keep up with his coat, that you cut it down then, so you still have a couple months of pure fluff left!

You only get the puppy coat once, so cherish it!!
