Here is a wonderful recipe, that I have used for years with great success:

Fleas, Ticks, Mosquitoes, Fly Repellant
Ingredients are full strength oils: Tea Tree Oil, Rosemary Oil, Sage Oil,
Cedarwood Oil, Peppermint Oil, Sweet Orange Oil, Eucalyptus Oil, Citronella,
Oil, Pine Needle Oil,
Directions: Mix 4-6 drops each with 32 oz of any natural shampoo and you now
have a natural flea shampoo, or

Mix 2-3 drops each with 16 oz. Water in a spray bottle. Shake before each
application and spray lightly over entire body.

Repels fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, flies and also makes the van smell great.
Spray dogs, and blankets. Use before going into the show ring instead of those
other sprays; no chemical smell spray. This stuff smells great, dogs look
great, give additional shine to their coat.

Applied how often for general control ? The pest control gods have smiled upon me and knock on wood, even here in fla, I haven't had any trouble and haven't applied any flea product since Aug.

I spray it on before going for a walk.
We have minimal fleas out here, but quite a few ticks (how I hate those buggers ).

Thanks for the recipe spoofan. I will have to wait till I get to a bigger town to get the ingredients, blast living in a small rural town it makes things so difficult sometimes.

Talking to a girl at the races yesterday who is considering starting an obedience, agility, flyball club here in our town - Rheeeeeeeeeeeeee finally somewhere to take the dogs for socialisation and training. I so hope it comes to fruition

Spoofan, can this repellent be used on humans also? Don't really have any real problems right now, but mosquitos eat me up in the summer time if I am outside in the evening, w/o using some type of repellent on myself.

Thanks, good to know, will try it this next summer. Once it is mixed up will it lose its potency after any certain length of time that you know of?
