I would at least have expected her to be polite to my face and then go complain to her friends! Ha! Ha! Seriously, I'd think she'd be happy to see her puppies go to loving homes. Dogs don't care about titles.

So sorry she treated you that way. She is the type that give breeders a bad name. Who cares what the hair looks like as long as the dog is happy and well cared for. I keep my boys in a short kennel cut. I leave the topknot, ears, and tail but shave the body to about 1/2 inch. I do agility so the less coat maintenance the better. Even at agility trials people will make comments about my naked poodles. Whatever, to each his own.

Yeah, it would be one thing if he was dirty, matted etc. But my only offense was that he is not a living topiary! One of my friends told me that their breeder got mad because they didn't crop the doberman's ears.

That was rude of her. To play devils advocate, she did ask you to shave his face for the visit, so maybe she thought you were being rude to her by not doing that?

I keep my kids face shaved as often as I can. I do it just about every 2 weeks because it starts to drive me nuts when it gets much longer than that. So maybe she figured that you couldn't spare 2-3 weeks of your poodle having a shaved face? I don't know.

I've found most breeders to be absolutely insane, even the good ones. So I wouldn't put too much thought into it! You don't have to be advertising her dogs for her, that wasn't what you signed up for.

She did ask me to shave his face but I told her there was no way I could get in with a decent groomer with no notice on a Saturday (not to mention I didn't have time or want to spend $70 plus tip). I was very clear when I asked her if she wanted me to bring him, that he would not be in a show cut. I don't have enough experience to shave that close myself, but I'm working on it.

Still, it is your dog. You get to make the call on his hairstyle. She might not like it - but I do think it wasn't her place to express that to you.

Wow... If she could not see past the hair and realize her dog was in a loving home and is well taken care of then I wouldn't purchase a dog from her again. It's one thing for her to be a little dissapointed you didn't shave the muzzle but to be down right be rude was un-called for. She should of kept her mouth shut and appreciated that you actually took the time to bring him out for her to see.

Whats the name of her kennel so I don't inquire about a dog from her in the future. Does she have a website too. I won't say anything but now Im really curious who this breeder is.

Oh and just in case you need a quick muzzle shaved in the future, normally you bring a dog in for a muzzle shave to any groomer and its like 10 bucks. (as long as they were just bathed) I paid $10 for muzzle and feet before I leaned how between grooming's.
