Since she did great on cooked chicken and some rice , I do not think she has Giardia since it won't make any difference what she eats - she would have diarrhea anyway.

I think that she is just one of those poos that needs pampering and have nice , healthy cooked food prepared for her to thrive. I know it is time-consuming , but on the long run - you will have extremely healthy dog with great teeth and shiny coat and full of healthy energy :)

Actually, the funny thing with giardia is that it waxes and wanes. Giardia can be hard to find in a stool sample. Even if you run several in a row, you still might not find it. If she were mine, i personally would put her on a couple days worth of panacur (dewormer from your vets). It wont harm her, and will kill the giardia (or other parasites she might have). Metronitazole is also another good medication from your vet that is an antibacterial that helps clear up loose stools (wonder drug!!). I would have her seen as this obviously isnt clearing up.

It is possible for a dog to develope allergies, or have them not show up until later. My dog developed enviornmental allergies at about 2 years old. Fine until then, and his get worse every year. As for the duck crunch, i would personally hold off. Has she Ever had duck before? I would not give any just in case you need to do a food trial you have a novel protein. Does she Need the crunch in her kong? Do you have any high quality dog buiscuits you could give? I get some hard ones that are homemade at my feed store that Riley really likes.

That is what I was concerned about. :( My mother had it last winter and I remember the doctor's description about how it works and how it seemed to be a 3-4 day cycle of horror and recovery.

I think I will call the vet tomorrow. Thanks.

She has a grain sensitivity so it's hard to find 'cookies' and such for her kongs. I could put some yogurt in there, I guess. We stopped it when her tummy troubles started.
