Dear All
Our toy poodle Baci is now 7 years old and is starting to have eye problems. She is in no pain but we've noticed her eyesight is deteriorating and there is a little milkiness. We are taking her to a veterinary ophthalmologist next week. Does anyone have experience of this as their dog gets older? Any advice would be much appreciated.

I’ve had dogs who start losing their sight as they get older. The trick is to not move stuff around too much. Dogs are amazing and once they know their environment, you wouldn’t even know they can’t see.

You also need to protect them from what they can’t anticipate (like a cliff if you go walking).

Other than that, your dog will be perfectly happy. Going to the vet is a good start, as they can intervene if the condition is treatable.

Thanks Dechi
So what we are experiencing is pretty normal? She's very happy except her separation anxiety is getting more acute.

Do you know if her parents had any health testing done before they were bred that's on file somewhere? That info, if available, might be helpful for the specialist.

Whatever they find, I hope that it's something manageable for you and Baci.
