I know poodles are classified by their height, but was curious what would be considered an average weight for a toy poodle. I'm looking for what I thought was an overside toy or a small miniature - a dog around 10 pounds.

However, I've spoken to two toy breeders now that told me they had oversize toys and the dogs were 5 or 6 pounds. I would have thought that was the average size of a toy.

Also, if anyone has any breeder recommendations, anywhere in the US, please let me know.

Poppy is top end of the toy range in the UK at just under 30cm/12", so would be considered oversize in the US. Her optimum weight, before she had to take steroids for liver failure, was around 4.25 kilos/9.5lbs, so I agree that 5lbs seems low for an oversize toy.
