Hi! I have a question about how long a member can stay "signed on" and not get bumped off... it seems like I'm frequently getting bumped off and I have to log back on in order to post. Is there a setting someplace that I can extend the number of minutes before timing out??

Thank you!!

I don't think I've ever been bumped off. Did you check the box that says "remember me" or something like that when you signed in? I have no idea if that would help or not. The only thing I've ever been timed out on is my credit card and pay pal accounts. Is it just this site?

Yeah, to my knowledge it's just this forum. I belong to a couple of other forums and once I log on, I'm on until I log off. On the Poodle Forum, I log on and if I don't actively move from page to page or from thread to thread and I come back in a while it will have bumped me off and I'll have to log on again. It's not a huge deal, it's just sometimes I've started composing a post and I'll get distracted and when I go to post my reply I'll get a message saying I don't have "permission" to do that because the site doesn't know me! lol! Sometimes my daughter pretends she doesn't know me either!! :)

it is probably more of something to do with your cookies expiring on your own computer rather than the site itself. I'm not entierly sure, but I know I've never had to log in again since I first logged in!!

Cookies are what your computer uses to remember things on websites, like photos and layouts, as well as passwords and log ins. You might have a virus program that is removing the cookies for this site for some reason, have a look in your browser settings to see. Otherwise I'd suggest clearing all your cookies out of the temporary internet file and starting afresh with all your forums, to see if it helps this one.

Thanks for your reply FD! I can try that and see if it works - like I said, this isn't a huge deal (I just have to sign on periodically) but it's just annoying. It's weird that my computer only targets this site and not the other forum sites... and I'll have to pay attention of it happens on all the computers I use (home and work) or just one or the other...

Thanks again!

Hi, checking off the "remember me" box will do wonders. Trust me on this. :)
I trusted you... and you were sooooo right!!! I don't even have to log on anymore! The site remembered me as soon as I opened it today! Thank you! :)
