thought about Beau

Beau, though being a miniature, has really long legs. I know it is difficult to tell in the pictures, but they are. My mom's poodle has short legs and unfortunatly is very fat. he is a miniature as well. I would guess he weighs around 20 pounds. Back to Beau, he is very stream lined. I don't feed him from the table. I give him his peanut butter in his kong, but that is it. He gets his food 2 times a day. Some times I can tell he nees a little to tide him over, but that is rare.
Do most poodles have long legs? I look at him laying like some of the pictures here of you spoos and I think wow if Beau were a bigger he would be a spoo. Well he would have to grow........
I just love my little Beau.

Standards and minis seem to have longer legs from what I've seen, I loooove it though, I think white standards with long legs move like swans.
I think when you see Toys or Minis that are short and squatty, it's more a sign of bad breeding than anything else. But I'm not an expert on poodle genetics, so someone can certainly correct me if I'm wrong.
From the Poodle Standard (for all varieties):

Proportion - To insure the desirable squarely built appearance, the length of body measured from the breastbone to the point of the rump approximates the height from the highest point of the shoulders to the ground.

So yes... the ideal Mini Poodle would be described as "leggy"
