This theme seems geared to Santa Claus and Christmas. Naughty or nice, a very Santa Claus thing. Can we also give a shout out to our Jewish friends and Hanaukah (sp?) and our African American friends celebrating Kwaanza. Orthodox Christains celebrate the Epiphany. also recognize Muslims, Buddhists, etc; (don't know all their holidays) We are a melting pot with so many things to celebrate in our faiths, especially during these hard times.

Asta's Mom, I added this to the contest entry thread:

Note: The Naughty or Nice poodle theme is based on the most commonly known, gift-giving fantasy character of our times. The theme is not meant to favor one religion, holiday, culture, gender, or ethnic group over another. Shout out to PF members of all backgrounds, religions and the non-religious.

The early roots and inspiration for the Santa myth was a character known as Old Man Winter aka Odin. Odin was a Norse god with magical powers who flew through the air on a grey eight-legged horse called Sleipnir.

Not surprisingly the Odin myth was inspired by other early gift-giving characters, including the Norse goddess Freya who spent the twelve days following the Winter Solstice by giving gifts to the good and misery to the corrupt. She also traveled in a chariot drawn by stags. See that link for more fascinating details.
