I have cried a bit, but I have once again decided am not going to spend my time grieving over Beatrice's shortened life when I can enjoy the moment, this moment, every moment she is with me, I am not going to waste it.
Thankfully Beatrice is eating plain old boiled yet scrummy chicken, shredded into teeny, tiny bits.
Beatrice tired, she like an elderly little dog instead of just 7, but she has that spark.
Bea hasn't given up just yet, so I won't.
Sadly the appetite stimulant hasn't arrived yet, bad weather so hopefully tomorrow.
I have again spoken with my vet, there are two vets in the practice, this was the other one. Both vets respect my choices, my desire for Beatrice to live her best life and keeping comfortable and happy.
So in speaking to the vet there is one last non invasive thing that we could try, which is cortisol.
I have talked the vets daily, updating them on Beatrice's condition.
My bosses have been nothing kind, I got a condolence card for Gracie from them even an offer to take time off if I needed it. They also want to know how Beatrice is doing, basically keep them in the loop.
I would definitely try the cortisol. It is good to know that the vets and your employer and colleagues are so supportive - Bea is one of those dogs that find their way into many hearts...
The cortisol may help increase her appetite, as well as make her feel a little better all round. Could she tolerate the cat treat Lik-e-Lix? It is renowned for persuading reluctant cats to eat, and they are usually far harder to persuade than dogs.
