Bella's going to the snow! I finally found and confirmed a cabin in Big Bear for later this month. Woo! I can't wait to see what she thinks. She didn't like a wading pool this summer, but has embraced both the rain, and a spraying hose (does that dog thing where she tries to drink all the water until she coughs...at least she's not water-fearful!). And she seemed to like her one beach trip (ooh, such a bad momma, I need to get her back there!) I'm imagining some sort of pansy-LA poodle response of lifting her paws up high like "eew! what's THIS!" but then loving it after a few minutes.
So, those of you with real weather, I need help!
We're holding off on her grooming so her hair will be longer and shaggier for more warmth, but it will only have been 5 1/2 weeks so it won't be SUPER long for combing-out.
We're also NOT feeding her that morning since it's a 2 1/2 hour car ride with an hour up a mountain (ask me how I found out that 2 hours post-breakfast isn't long enough for mountain travel. Wait, don't ask. blech).
We're borrowing a mini-van, she has her car harness. I think we'll just bring the x-pen and fluffy bed (not crate as we never lock her in there, just in the pen with the crate inside of it). Though it's a pet-friendly cabin I wouldn't leave her roaming it unattended. It also has a fenced-yard so we can let her play off-leash! We took her camping over the summer, so she did find in the van that time, for an hour and a half. The hard part is she had to stay on-leash the entire weekend and we stayed in a trailer so space so super-limited.
I feel like a new mom taking my first trip. I'm so excited! Any suggestions are most welcome.
