Hi everyone,
Recently, I have had a number of people send me PMs asking about how this community is or is not moderated. After given some thought to the feedback, I have decided that the time is appropriate to appoint 1 or 2 moderators to help Todd and I to help moderate this community -- from technical issues to member related issues.
Here is a very very brief outline of what the role of a moderator is:
1. Enforce the rules and conduct administrative tasks
- Among a moderator's enforcement duties is often the duty to alert Admin to non-supporting vendors posting illegally and to control flaming and keep the board a friendly place, as free of personal insults as possible; different boards have different standards, and what is acceptable on one will invariably be prohibited on another. Most online communities also ban illegal material (such as copyrighted service manuals, etc.) and pornography, and many also restrict the use of profanity and any violent or sexual images. I don't see the latter as an issue here but it's good to get this out in the open.
- admin related tasks would extend to closing, moving, merging or sticking threads, deleting or editing posts, notifying me of SPAM; etc., etc.
When it comes down to it, I'm really looking for people who want to help keep this community peaceful as it grows. A lot of the times, you have to take feedback from the community that is negative and not be quick to hit that "ban the user" button.
Anyhow, if you would like to be considered for the role of a moderator, please send a PM to T O D D and I expressing your interest. Aside from details about yourself, your PM should cover the following:
1. Why do I want to be a moderator on PoodleForum?
2. Why would I be a good moderator?
3. How often do I visit Poodleforum?
DO NOT post your interest of becoming a moderator in this thread. That will automatically disqualify you.
Please post questions or concerns or feedback about this.
