Does your poodle enjoy shopping?
Ritter adores it. He enjoys the car ride to the shops. He enjoys walking around, seeing new sights and sniffing new things. He enjoys meeting new people, especially the ones who pet him while telling him he is handsome and giving him a treat.
Yesterday I needed to pick up a script at the dog friendly pharmacy in town. Ritter was delighted to be allowed to come along. I had some extra time, so we took a little walk through the shopping district. Alas, the only other dog friendly shop is the bank, and I didn’t need anything there. Ritter was a bit disgruntled that I wasn't opening any shop doors for him. He finally parked himself on the steps of a mobile phone shop and stood waiting.
I was highly amused. I gave him a few moments to change his mind. He merely stood there, glancing between me and the electronics shop, his expression saying, "C'mon, open the door already." I finally asked him in a tone of fond exasperation, "What are YOU going to do with a cell phone?"
Ritter merely looked back at me with a plea in his eyes. A pedestrian who had stepped around us cracked up laughing when he heard my question. He spun around and walked backwards a few steps, so he could continue watching our little argument. I finally informed Ritter, "No, it's the NEXT door," and led him down the street to the pharmacy.
