I could be out of habit. When we first moved to Oklahoma and my Cocker mix Clover had her very first flea she would itch like mad and rub on anything she could find. We have live here for 5 years and she is flea free but will still rub on the fence and on any wire crate even the end of my bed. I just correct her and give her something to play with/distract her.

Have you tried a cortisone shot just to see if it will help?
