Normie found a dead something or other in the yard this afternoon. I bribed him away with a Really High-Value treat. Then I took him inside, and we scooped it up with the pooper scooper and disposed of it. The scoop was placed in its usual place on the porch.

Normie then returned to the yard to find his treasure. He sniffed around, then caught the scent and came bounding across the yard and up the stairs, pointy nose in the air, straight to the guilty scooper.

Message to Normie: Poodles are duck retrievers, not scent hunters. We have NO ducks!

Annie says that sounds yum! She would also like to know what treat is high enough to give up a smelly dead thing? Maybe her human can get some lol.

Notice to Normie’s mom, all dogs are scent hounds. How do you think poodles find the downed birds to retrieve? Their long ears help the dog track scent.

On a serious note... Normie sounds like he would do fabulous in a nose work class. You might want to consider signing him up for a class.

It's True Chews Chicken and Apple Sausage. Robin mentioned them a few months ago as being one of Peggy's favorites and Normie concurs.
