Rob, the red poodle is 8 months old now. He was chosen as the fearless pup most likely to do well in the vicinity of gun shots as I have been wanting a hunting dog of my own for most of my life and conveyed this desire to our breeder.

He was a giant ball of fur for a long time and throughout our summer of back country canoe trips and hiking.

The gradual exposure to noisy firearms almost seemed unnecessary with this dog. He heard and acknowledged shots but never ever seemed disturbed. He has had a fantastic attitude from day one. Happy to meet any dog or person that crosses his path. And he travels like a champ. A long morning tromping through the bushes and he curls up on the seat of my truck and sleeps for the whole ride home.

Oh, and apropos of nothing; this dog is beautiful. Every day I get compliments on this pup, even from those who said they had not previously been fans of the breed. Rob is an excellent ambassador for Standard Poodles. Even if I can’t say the same for his muddy booted owner.
