Teddy is now almost 21 months. We've fed him a combination of raw food, home cook food (and for the last 9 months), Eagle Pack canned food (recommended by a food review and reasonably priced.
Recently I've been reading a lot of articles that have got me nervous. I am not convinced his diet is well balanced nutritionally.
FIrstly he loves his raw chicken, with bones, but he doesn't seem to like other kinds of raw food. The only one he will eat is ground beef and that gives him terrible stomach issues. It's tough to get him to eat liver (though we can). And it's tough to find hearts or other organs.
To counter this we generally feed him canned food in the mornings and raw chicken (with some extra canned) in the evening. The idea is that the canned food is providing the balanced items.
Until about 6 months ago I also made a mix of vegetables and meats, but he (and our other two smaller ones) stopped eating it. I've been making it again this weekend and they've started to eat it again.
Anytime I put any vitamin mixes or similar into the food they won't eat it.
I did just purchase some Omega based soft chews.
I realize I'm all over the place but he is healthy and full of energy. I just worry about any long term issues. Our vets are useless because they are completely against raw feeding and promote, heavily, Science Diet brands.
