All conversations are private, you can also hover over a member's avatar to see the "message" option in a thread. This will open an option to begin a conversation. All conversations can ONLY be viewed by members participating in it, as indicated on the right within the conversation. As mentioned above, inappropriate content within conversations will not be visible. Unless, as was also the case back then, the message is reported to the mod team.

Please use this feature at your discretion and let me know if you have any further issues.

One other question, is it possible to mark a message to get a receipt that the sender's message has been read?

I am beginning to wonder, are there features in the new one that are better? Or better enough to have caused all of this chaos?

from a protection side of thing, yes. We are seeing reports of several large and small sites on the old software that have suffered data breaches which we've upgraded and protected against. Perhaps some of the things you may want to see need to be developed, but at least we can do it from the relative safety of this software. This is not saying we're infallible, but the size, scope, and depth of issues are severely restricted with this upgrade, and we can and are able to more proactively respond to them as well.

It is threads like the community feedback one that aide us in making this site more friendly to your experience, but know that a change this large was not done frivolously.

Thanks,
Gerrit
