"The American Kennel Club hopes that the pet will turn out to be a pair of 6-week-old toy poodles, rescued by Flora's Pet Project/Poodle Rescue in Connecticut. First lady-to-be Michelle Obama said in an interview last month that the family was interested in adopting a rescue dog after the election.

The puppies were transported to the AKC's New York offices, where they were to be photographed professionally Thursday in the hopes of catching the Obama family's attention."

That would be nice for the poodles. Do you think they would join the forum? lol
I can see it now "Obamadog" joins poodle forum. I would have to :phone: everyone I know

I hope they do get poodles especially rescue ones, it would be great exposure for the breed and for rescues in general.
Of course they would join this forum, why wouldnt they

I will give them a :phone: now and tell them of the link to here
Hmmm, I'm not sure if that's such a good thing for the breed. It might cause a influx of people wanting to buy Toy Poodles just because the "President has one!"

Its nice they are rescues but still....
Honestly, I could TOTALLY see them having a poodle. Smart, dignified, intelligent, it totally fits. :rainbow:
I think it would be very good for the breed. I mean I almost cried when he mentioned bringing their new puppy home to the white house. They would totally need to join the group! hehe
Regarding: "Smart, dignified, intelligent", I agree with that. As far as his ideas, not so much.
Alert! Hope I dont' offend anyone! :rose: I was actually a huge Hillary fan... because I loved (ha ha yes I did) the Clintons. Now there are some BRAINS, Bill is smarter than people realize, try genius (though maybe needs to learn how to "behave"!)

I think he (Obama) is a good guy, with good intentions, and his speaking leads me to believe he is pretty smart. ;) I liked McCain OK as well and nearly voted for him until he chose his VP (not a Palin fan, no offense!! :) ) Regardless, I did not vote this election, it's a bit of a pain in the arse to vote overseas, absentee ballot and all of that jazz, and I didn't feel motivated enough about the candidates to make the call. I don't belong to a party, I go which ever way seems to make the most logical sense and I won't vote unless I believe in somebody. I had too many doubts either side, and minus Palin, was pretty happy yet neutral with either candidate.

Obama is very smart, I think he will try his best, either that or he is a very good liar, and I'm not so great with my BS meter and politicians. And as far as his dog, I believe he stated they would get a Labradoodle or Cockapoo or something...

Well I just heard the news say something about a Labradoodle (poodle x lab...lol Sivaro) . Honestly not to thrilled about that or a cockapoo. I would of atleast thought he would get a purebred dog. The labradoodle fad is going to grow even more if that's the Obama choice.

I really like Obama and Im happy he was elected but a cockapoo or labradoodle...come on Odama!

I agree!! He needs to get a purebred poodle! For the good of the breed.
I'm not so sure that a labradoodle or cockapoo are hypoallergenic. I am allergic to practically all dogs and that is why I have always had purebred poodles. If President Elect Obama's daughter is allergic, as has been reported, the purebred poodle would be the safest choice.
People think they are because they are mixed with poodles, but with a mix you can't tell what you're going to get. It might be like a poodle, or it might shed like crazy.

It's funny that the things people like about doodles are usually poodle attributes. So basically they want a poodle that does not look like a poodle.
I have Goldens, and most people tell me they want a Golden that doesn't shed... and that is why they get a doodle lol

So it depends who you ask...

I can't stand doodles- I think they're ugly, personally... ;)
Poodle mixes from what I understand get both fur and hair and either a fleece coat or wool coat. I also read somewhere that most have serious matting issues because of a double coat, wool and shedding fur.

If people want a longer hair look on a poodle or don't like a classic poodle cut, it's a simple matter of different clipping styles. :)
