Poor Jester

Well, my little man (my toy poo) went to the vet this morning and got neutered. Poor guy, after I took him home he just lay around with sad eyes. I am glad it is done, I don't want him to be "male-ish" and he is only pet quality. He is my little buddy and snuggle friend. I love this little guy to death!

Here are a couple pics of him.

Before his scissor cut.

Just a few days ago after his scissor cut. It is not the best cut, my first time giving a poodle a cut and it being his first time he wasn't still, but it came out cute enough for me.
This first pic was taken outside after the sun set so the colors are not correct.

Poor little guy! I'm sure he'll be his energetic self in no time. He's so cute. I think you did a nice job cutting him. And I love the picture of him and Angel in the snow. Looks like they're good playmates.
Awwwwwww poor baby. I hope he feels better soon!
how old is he? my vet recommended waiting until Dutch was around 1-2 years when he was done growing. just curious what others think about this. I think I saw this discussion elsewhere, but am too lazy to find it!!

My vet had no problems with neutering him now, he is a week short of 6 months. I have never had a vet that didn't fix a dog at 6 months so I am not sure why your vet says 1-2 years old. Maybe some feel it is better??? Jester was already showing a lot of interest in girls and was trying to mount them, testing out his testosterones. I don't want him to ever feel like a "male" so I chose to do him now so as to avoid any future hormones with him. Maybe others have other thoughts on this, but I have never had any problems with fixing a dog at 6 months.

Good luck with your boy. :)

she said she would do it sooner if he was showing signs of unwanted male behavior. she just feels it is better on their bones to wait till they are done growing.
Some vets recommend waiting, but it is done only with big dogs, that grow at a much slower rate than small dogs.
Jester is so cute - the cut is lovely but don't you miss that puppy hair! lol I used to love that fluff that ginger had when a puppy. But he is aodrable!

Thanks, yeah, I think he is a cutie even though he is not "top" quality form wise. I wouldn't trade him for a top show dog, I just love this little tyke to death!! To me he will always be a winner :first:

No, I don't really miss his fluff. I loved it when he was little, but it was getting VERY long and made him seem twice as large and every time he went out in the snow lately he would come in with huge snow balls in his hair. It took forever for him to dry off and was a pain to try and get all the snow balls out of him, and I love to have him sit on the chair with me and I had to wait till he was dry. Now he goes out, romps and plays and just has a crazy time, then comes in and I towel him off and he is ready to go. Yes, the fluff is adorable and next winter I will let his hair grow in a bit to keep him warm, but I do like his adorable curls and love to run my hands up and down his back while he sits next to me. :)
