assuming the older dog is well socialized and tolerates puppies well, if your friend is breeding him she should know if this is the case, I would think that after the initial introductions they should be fine. Keep the leashes loose when you introduce. Don't pull on them, that sometimes makes dog nervous when they are meeting new friends.
I might try and intoduce in an area that isnt "owned" by either dog if you are worried. That way there is no defending this or that because this is my house or my yard, make sense?
