Roundworms are extremely common in puppies - I assume he has now been given a suitable worming treatment? As lang as you are careful to pick up after him there should be no problem walking him.

If there are a lot of untreated dogs in your area, and owners who are less scrupulous than you about picking up, there is a possibility that he could get worms again, although they usually don't much affect older dogs. But worming treatments are simple, safe and inexpensive - I would just talk to your vet about a regular worming plan until your dog is an adult, and keep walking and exercising him.
