Good morning everyone. I hope that you and yours are well and staying safe at home. I've been following a few poodle groups on Facebook, and there seem to be a lot of posts about puppy color. My question is this - do breeders know what color their puppies will be when they are fully grown? I would think that a reputable breeder absolutely would. Am I wrong? Thanks for your help!

Yes a reputable breeder will know what the color of their pups will be as adults

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but in a few cases it can be hard to tell. Namely with litters that have black and blue pups or litters that have brown and cafe pups. Some pups show signs early on but I think some blues and cafes clear late and look black/brown as pups.

Compared to a black pup a blue pup is lighter, compared to a brown pup a cafe pup is lighter.
