Costco Canada has a pet insurance where they give you a % off depending on which Costco membership you have. I did a test run based on my pup born Jan. 2021. For accident + illness coverage of $15,000 annually @90% of cost with an annual deductible of $100.00 the quote was 110.00/month. Now that’s the highest coverage along with the lowest deductible. For the lower annual coverage of $7,500 and 70% of cost and $300.00 annual deductible The quote was $62/month They do not cover any pre existing conditions. Also I noticed that the deductible choices increase with the age of the pet. I am not sure if the overall cost to insure will go up as well. If it’s like car insurance it probably will go up even if you have no claims or traffic tickets. That being said it’s a choice that I either have a slush fund set up where I put away enough $ per month to cover higher vet bills expected in old age (7 and up) and take the chance that the dog has no unusual illness or accidents before then or get insurance.
