Oh yes, and a wee bit o' luck! I'm kinda nervous...We leave at 5:30 in the morning to drive the 3.5 hours to our new show groomer...then two poodle specialty shows on friday, and all-breed shows on saturday and sunday...all of these in Dixon, CA. Hope it's fun for both of us!:scared:

Wow, he looks absolutely stunning.

I am glad you had a fun time. :)
*sigh* what a pretty boy he is. I'm glad you had fun with him.

Kpoo's thats an excellent way to put it. You're right, every poodle person or pro handler had to start somewhere. LoL, I'm imagining little Nicholas running around the Juniors ring with Saleen sometime in the future. I've got to brainwash him early I suppose so he'll love poodles and wont want a big slobbery dog or anything when he's older LoL.
I had always wanted my oldest son to handle a show dog for me but he's always refused.LOL I guess I just have to do it myself until one of them shows enough interest to go out and do it.
Wow!!!!! Monroe is gorgeous, he has such a great expression too!
Hope you had fun : ))) ! Your spoo is really cute : ) ! I am sure it was stressful
though - the atmosphere in spoo ring at the last show I went was VERY tense and pretentious LOL and whole room smelled like hair-sprays and all kinds of sprays - you name it - some people had to go out for fresh air :eek:hwell:. I kept my mouth shut but my daughter asked : " Mom, why are all those people so "stuck-up" ...sheeeesh" ???? I had trouble controlling my giggle since it just struck me that it WAS the case indeed LOL . It was "all breed show" that day so we went from ring to ring and than when we entered Spoo area atmosphere
was DEFINITELY different. Did not do much for promoting Spoo breed : ((, many people would just come in and leave since they felt "uninvited" . Maybe handlers and owners should consider that part during showing - not to enforce already preconceived wrong "image" of this wonderful breed !!!!

Just a thought ...
As far as I can tell, dog show world is a lot like high school! Lots of cliques, lots of talking behind others backs...still, on the other hand, I did meet some nice people and was very kindly brought under the wing of our show groomer, which helped a great deal.
I got Monroe so I could improve my grooming. I was never planning a career in showing, but I seem to have been bitten by the bug, and now not only want to get better at grooming, but I want to become the best! It's an uphill battle to campaign an unknown silver, handled by an unknown owner, but, I am a determined one. Right now it's back to coat care and growth, as we were quite obviously inches behind the competition. That and Id like to teach Monroe to auto-stack and stretch, as that sure does look impressive!
Oh, and thanks y'all for the sweet compliments on Monroe. He is such a great guy and I cherish every moment with him!
You are sooo right !!!! The ONLY person I decided to approach was a lady with gorgeous black bitch in show coat and guess what - she was actually a groomer who decided to start showing her spoo as a hobby ! So, spoo groomers RULE LOL !!!!! I told her that if she ever decides to have a litter to call me ; ). Bitch is already 3 years old and comes from fantastic line, has all testing done !!!!! Got a lot of points on first show ! Temperament was to DIE for !!!!
