Hi all,

American expats living in NZ since 2011. My wife and I have settled in the beautiful beach town of Orewa 45 min drive north from Auckland.
Standard poodles has been my weakness since my first spoo many years ago. Unfortunately my wife is allergic to animal dander and until recently we did not own a home. Now that we have purchased our home, my wife is willing to consider a spoo assuming her allergies permit. She knows that poodles have hair, not fur and the amount of dander they create is far less than some other breeds.
My thought has been to find a local spoo or two and have the missus spend a short amount of time petting and perhaps playing/walking with the dog to see how she fares. If the first encounter goes well perhaps a little longer exposure.

Cheers

Welcome Mike! Best wishes that your wife can tolerate a poodle with her allergies. Fingers crossed that it will work out:)

Welcome :) Will also be crossing my fingers it works out for you!

I'm allergic to some dogs. My husband is VERY allergic to some dogs. We've luckily had zero issue with our spoo.
