I hadn't heard of anyone else getting all three of these done at once, so I wanted to let folks know what I learned so far.

I spent a long time researching gastropexies to decide if it was worth it and if it could be done laparoscopically. I live on a third floor walk up and was concerned about his recovery and bathroom breaks. When I called a hospital in the bay area that has a laparoscopic specialist, they gave me a price estimate of $10,000 for a 3 in 1 procedure with the laparoscopic pexy!!

My parents live in Boston with an elevator (no stairs!), so I looked into staying with them for a few months to get the surgery done. The estimate in Boston was $1,200-1,500 AND I was told that they can almost always use the umbilical hernia site as an incision place for the laparoscopic pexy. If they are able to do this, they won't charge me for the hernia procedure.

If I had just called the first hospital, I may have ruled out the pexy thinking it was a big extra procedure with a longer recovery time, extra incision on top of the other two, and a BIG extra cost.

TLDR: Apparently if your pup needs an umbilical hernia taken care of, they may be able to use that hernia site for the pexy procedure!

Here is a photo of Ziggy in his "waiting room" after his covid drop off. Zig went in this morning and the staff have texted me multiple photos to let me know he has settled in and to let me know when he was ready to go in for surgery.

$10,000 sounds like highway robbery!
Absolutely! When I heard that I thought the laparoscopic route was closed for us and opening him up completely didn't seem as doable with our three flights of steep stairs.

I may have gotten some extra photos and attention because I have some family that works at this hospital (another reason to have it done here).
