My poor Winston, he's itchy itchy and more itchy. For the last couple of weeks -i've noticed that his hair is falling out. I'm finding puffs of hair. Today, i thought to myself - wait a minute! Poodles aren't suppose to shed like this

In the meanwhile, i looking into finding a new dry food - he's currently on By nature puppy. I give his fish oil every day. When i do bathe him at home - i dilute the shampoo almost done to nothing and rinse him a gazillion times. Will ask vet if they can test for allergies

but in the mean while - my poor boy

How old is he?? I would get him in for a skin test asap!! Could be the start of sebaceous adenitis, however I think the signs and symptoms start when dogs are about a year or two.

Winston will be six months of age the end of this month

Ok, then SA is unlikely. I would still take him in for a skin test.

What shampoo are you using? Did you switch lately?

I would think because of the time of year that it is likely allergies. But definately a vet visit is in order to rule our S/A.

Yeah could be a flea allergy. I've been having flea issues and some of the reading says that their hair can fall out if they have an allergy.

Coat change can causen itching as the new hairs push out the puppy hair. As they swratch, their back toenails catch clumps an d pull out tufts of fur

I bathed my puppy in degreaser and his hair was very brittle after that, and would fall out with light pulling, or brushing.

It could be whatever he was bathed in although I think my problem had to do with his age too since he was less than 12 weeks.

I shaved all the long areas except his tail. Now only his tail hair falls out.
Try shaving him short

Are you actually seeing bald spots or sores? Have you tried switching foods already or adding a fish oil supplement yet?
