My Mum is all hobbly and limpy. It started ages ago on a very hot day when she took us for a walk before Upholstery and then kept saying OWWW! and wiggling her feet and legs and not wanting to go far. And then it got a bit better, but lots of people came to stay and she was cleaning the house and making beds and saying OWWW! rather a lot. Then it rained a lot, and she sat a lot, and stopped saying OW! and after days of boring, boring, boring rain the sun came out and we went for lovely long walks and now she is back to hobbling and limping and saying OWWW!

We think she should have gone to the vet ages ago, or Sophy's wonderful Mr Gutteridge who makes her back better when it hurts, but Mum thinks the human vet would just tell her to rest it and take tablets, which is what she is doing, so she is going to see a special kind of vet who will show her how to stop it happening again. Which would be a Good Thing, because when she is being careful we have rather boring walks on safe paths and not very far, instead of proper adventures over the fields and stiles, and scrambling along the shore for miles and miles. So if any of you know Magic ways of making human knees better, do tell me - we all want to get her walking properly again!

Oh Poppy we feel your mamas pain. When I had wobbly owes knees I first wore some knee braces, kinda like a sleeve that slipped on as was fasten with velcro, they had a bit of a hard band in them. They did make my knees feel a bit better when walking. But then I went to a special Vet call aq orthopedic vet. He gave me shots in my knees that eased the pain but still it came back and I remained wobbly, eventually that special vet gave me a brand new knee. Now it its wonderful. I cannot kneel on it but I can walk miles. I hope your mama gets some relief.

Poppy people get worn out parts just like doggies. It is a drag and we hope your mum gets some good advice about how to get back to walking properly.

I am sorry your mom is all hobbly and saying OWWW. I don't likes OWWW at all. I hope the new vet can help your mom feel all better soon.

Mum says the new vet is on holiday for more than a week, and if it doesn't get better soon she will go and see her usual vet just to make sure she is doing the right thing. She gets as bored as we do, though, so she is not very good about being on crate rest!

I think my Mum may be getting a bit better. She is still slow and hobbly and won't go for proper walks, but she is not saying "OWW!" quite so much, and she is taking us out to the Wild Bit at the back, where there are chairs and nice smells and paths to explore and I can flop on her lap. The cats come too, and it is nice to all explore together while Mum sits and watches. Sophy made Mum change chairs, though - she said there were too many ants where Mum was sitting, and they tickled her when she lay down there. So it is still boring, but not quite so bad. And Mum says Brenda and Tony will take us for a walk later on - I like Brenda and Tony lots because they always have biscuits and they often leave their door open so I can go in and remind them (Mum says this is rude, but I always ask very politely). I am not sure about letting them steal me in their car though...

Sophy is BORED!

I am a bit, but Sophy is really, really, REALLY bored! Our kind friend David took us for a walk this afternoon, but it was just a little one, and Sophy likes long walks. She says she feels all pingy and fizzy inside, and needs something exciting to happen. Mum took us out on the lawns so she could run zoomies but she says it is not the same - she wants to go somewhere really fun and walk for hours and hours. I quite like lazing around with Mum, but Sophy says if something interesting doesn't happen soon she is going to start working out how to get at the cats' food - it is meant to be out of our reach, and I have stopped even trying, but Sophy has plans...

Mum is boring, too - no proper walks, no fun games rolling around on the floor tickling tummies, just boring training games - not even hunt the treat today, as she said we were eating too many, just because we had some from her and from Tony and from Brenda and then asked David too!

[If my knee doesn't improve soon I am going to have to look for a dog walker - Sophy may be 10 and a half, but she starts mithering and bouncing off the walls if she doesn't get enough exercise! fjm]

Oh Poppy!
I hope your Mum goes to the Vet soon. Maybe he can fix her like they fixed my friend Pepe's knee..........he is all better now and we can play 'chase' again, but he had to do 'crate rest for weeks and weeks and I missed him very much.
Give your Mum a sweet lick from me and tell her I hope she feels frisky soon!
Love,
Your Friend

Hurrah! Hurrah! We went for a walk! It was only a very little walk, but it was down by the river which is the proper place for the first walk of the day, and we went in the car, which is the proper way to go for a walk, and we met nice people and nice dogs and it was a walk! But when we got there Sophy said she would wait in the shade by the gate - all that fuss about being bored, and then she thought there may be bangs! She was fine once she had Mum on a lead so Mum couldn't wander off without her though, and it was really nice being out seeing the world.

Mum says she did phone the human vet this morning, but the person she wanted to see was busy all day, and her knee is so much better she didn't think it was bad enough for a doctor when they are very, very busy after the holiday weekend. She says she is going to carry on doing Littlanoffen, whatever that is, because it seems to be working, and she may get some crisps so we can have fizzy-wine-and-crisps this evening, to celebrate. We had crisps with David last night, because he and Linda were having fizzy-wine-and-crisps in the garden, and Mum actually said No thankyou when they offered her some! We didn't - we said Yes please!

But Mum also says her knee is now not bad enough for her to say she can't manage the drive and the stairs on the way to the dentist this afternoon, so she will have to go and we will have to stay and be good at home because it will be too hot to wait in the car, so it is not all good news...
