My husband and I have been discussing getting a mini poodle for a long time and we just don't know where would be the best place to find one. I've been doing some research on how to find reputable breeders and what to look out for. However, some of the ones I initially thought were good breeders have been looking a little questionable. So I wanted to get other opinions, please recommend some breeders that are close to the Bay Area that specialize in red/apricot mini poodle.

Here are some reputable poodle breeders in the Bay area. I got this list from the Mission Trail Poodle Club site. The club has not been updating the site, so this may not include all good breeders, but it's a good start.
Clarion Poodles (toys and miniatures)
Imperii Poodles(standards and miniatures)
Midnight Miniature Poodles

Although these three breeders usually have black minis, one of them might be able to help you find an apricot.

A word of warning - there are some very unscrupulous people breeding dogs of unusual colors. The most common colors of poodles are black, white, silver, brown, and apricot in that order. The best breeders are VERY unconcerned about color, other than trying not to produce mismarks. Good miniature breeders will have several generations of health-tested dogs. Health testing for miniature poodles includes hip x-rays, eye exams, and patella exams.
