I hope this isn't against the PF rules.

I was at Petsmart today to get some Nylabones for the boys. It was adoption day for Olive's Hope, a volunteer-based, All Breed, No Kill, Foster Based Rescue Group non-profit 501(c)(3) in Pleasanton Ks.

They have a puppy mill rescue retired poodle stud named Ajax in need of a home. He's about 4yrs old, reasonably good health and teeth, toy size with shorter legs and slight east/west feet. His color is brown, more of a dark silver beige maybe? He is understandably shy and very quiet. I came back to him a couple of times and by the last time, I think he was responding a bit to me. I'm copying some info and links. I spoke with the ladies and they said they will adopt out of state. He is definitely a project pup but seems very sweet. I'm adding some photos I took today when I first saw him.

Awww...he's so sad looking. I would be so tempted to scoop him up if I didn't have these dogs and lived closer. And I would keep his life low key and not force a lot of people on him. Poor little thing. I hope he gets a good, loving and understanding home soon. These damn puppy mills...how they destroy or all but destroy little lives. What's his adoption fee? Is this a good, legitimate rescue organization or one of those looking to profit from purchasing puppy mill dogs, pretending to rescue them?

He stayed at the back of the corral and the ladies were on folding chairs inside with them. There were also 2 puppies in his corral and they kept a respectful distance. He did look sad, and still unsure of the activity but I swear I saw hope in his eyes.

The adoption fee is listed as a flat $160 for dogs on their site. I don't have knowledge of whether they're a pay to rescue group but my gut says they aren't. The area they're in isn't a high income area and most or all the animals are in foster homes. The women shown on their website are the women I met yesterday. Ajax has been with them since at least March 21 this year.

Well, that's good that you feel okay about them, especially having met them...makes a good indication. I do hope they get adopted and loved. That hope you saw in his eyes is so indicative of that precious little soul inside longing for something...something he knows not what it is yet. Gosh, I'd have trouble working in a place like that. I would wind up bringing home way too many dogs. Thanks for getting this out. The more out there it gets, the better. (I think)
