Hi, I am in Calfornia and have Steeler - a 10 month old black standard. Thinking of getting another. How did everyone find their recued poodles or their re-homed spoos? Have looked into the local recscue but no luck so far...Thanks for any great advise in advance.

Try petfinder maybe or look on craigslist. I see many Standards on craigslist. Oh I also check kijiji now.
Im in Modesto Ca which isnt far from you in the bay....most of the Standards I see on craigslist are in the Bay.

Type standard poodle into petfinder with your zip code and pages and pages of them will show up.
It is sad. I am in Canada though and not many here I was looking for a 3rd but have given up for now since we have the Neo in the barn that son isn't looking after as good as I hoped I had to step up to the plate

Ya I didnt see anything on craigslist either.
Did you see that silver Standard Poodle male puppy in Sacramento area on Kijiji. He is adorable!! I think they were asking 600.00 but you may be able to get a good deal since he's the last baby.
He was soo cute!!

I'd love to get a little older one, I don't think I could go through the puppy stage again so soon. I love silvers though. If you come across anything please let me know. Kijiji seems to have all puppies, am I searching right or are there older dogs posted as well??

I think there is a adoption option to go too also. Its listed were the puppies/dogs option is.
I certainly will keep my eyes and ears open for you. There were two poodles that I groomed awhile back that were just a year old. Ill find out if they still have them in foster.

Try to contact these guys http://www.operationroger.rescuegroups.org/ They may be able to help you get a rescue to you from anywhere in the US....I did ALOT of rescue work here on the east coast and some of the rescues I pulled from kill shelters for used these guys sometimes for transport. They may be willing to help an individual get a rescue to them. Try it, you may find they will help. That is the only resource I can provide you with that has not already been mentioned. Hoobly.com and Dukespost.com are also 2 other sites you might be able to find a rescue standard on. Good luck!

There are two Poodle resuce groups in northern california. One is www.bayareapoodlerescue.org and the other is http://www.norcalpoodlerescue.net/
Have you tried any of them??
There are several great standards breeders in Marin county. One is http://www.cabernetstandardpoodles.com/. The other is Graphic Poodles, she has no website, but if you want her phone number, just PM me and I will send it to you. There is also http://www.stonewood-poodles.com/contact.html. Roberta Stone breeds minitures and her partner toys. Sometimes these breeders will have older puppies they are looking to place or dogs they want to retire.
