Jenny doesn't feel good.

Jenny started to have accidents in the kitchen last week. It was driving me nuts, I couldn't figure out why she would backslide so bad. The first time she did it was when my neighbor brought her new puppy over, so I thought she was just jealous or something. But she kept doing it even though she goes outside constantly. Then a couple days ago she started whining, especially in the morning and she would pace and wind in and out of the curtains on the patio door. I watched her when she went out and she probably squated to pee 15 times in less than 10 min. Took her to the vet today and she has a bladder infection. So shes on antibiotics and hopefully will feel better soon, but after we left the vet I got to wondering, what caused it. Does it just happen or does something cause it? Can it be prevented? The vet did do an ultrasound, but I don't know why. I didn't find out they even did one till I read my receipt after we left. Their office is very chaotic right now, they had a fire in their main building so until spring they are working out of a very cramped, tiny office that they usually only see cats in. It's called their Cat Care Clinic. I don't have cats so have no idea what that is exactly, but it's tiny and we didn't spend as much time discussing things like we usually do.

Sorry your pup is not feeling well.
The antibiotics should work fairly fast.
Give her a good dose of probiotics to counter the negative effect antibiotics have on the good bacteria in her gut...Acute care paste from the vet or just a good strong human one.
I add probiotics to Gunther's food all the time.
You can also give a cranberry pill and make sure she drinks plenty of water.
Adding a bit of broth should entice her to drink more to flush her system.
Also....I would have her urine checked again once her treatment is completed, just to make sure.
She's suppose to go back 2 days after she finishes the antibiotic. She'll be on it for 2 weeks. Thanks, I will look into the probiotics. I have some in capsule form I think, should I just open and mix 1 in her food? Both meals?
Just sprinkle it on her food.
When my Gaby had a bladder infection, I was giving her double the human dosage.
Also,in other instances...diarrhea,upset stomach etc.
Just be persistent about having everything checked out, even if she feels good.Sometimes it lingers on and can cause kidney stones.
The urine should be light and clear not orange and cloudy.
I remember my trusted vet telling me how important it is to make them drink a lot and pee a lot.
Glad you got to the bottom of it quickly for her, it must be very uncomfortable for her, poor little mite.
Hope the meds will have her on the mend soon, poor baby.

Here I am again with a question - what is a probiotic? Is it like the nutirbiotic pills that I take(grapefuit seed extract)for yeast?

I mean Nutribiotic
They are like the active cultures in yogurt. I'm sure that is the most elementary explanation, but I don't know what the technical definition is. LOL!
I'm sorry that Jenny isn't feeling well but glad you caught it! Can I also say that I'm jealous that she has caught on to potty training so well. Wriggs doesn't poop in the house but he still will potty if I don't open the door immediately to let him out. (And he barely glances at it as his sign.)

He'll catch on! We have the benefit of Sam. He pretty much housebroke her. He used to only go out about 3 times a day, but we started sending him out with her about every 2 hours. Too cold for us to stand out with her and she wouldn't stay out by herself. You should have seen Sam's face everytime we told him it was time to go outside. LOL!! He looked like a kid told to do a chore  She caught on pretty fast. The antibiotic must work quickly. She has only had 3 pills and she seems alot better. No accidents since we've been home from the vet and she isn't pacing anymore. She does go outside alot though.
By the way she weighed 24lbs!!! I couldn't believe it. How much does Wrigley weigh now?
