I have two houses that both have multiple offers coming in. I'm a little discombobulated. Okay...excuse time over. I just realized the date and that it's Maurice's birthday!:birthday: OMIGOSH, he's 6 years old. (Matisse's b.d is the 17th) I can't believe it...how fast the time flies. It seems like such a short while ago I joined this forum and was investigating the possibility of getting a poodle. And then I did. In fact, I got two poodles, as you know.

So, his story is that I almost didn't get him. I had in mind to get one poodle. I mean, who in their right mind gets two poodle puppies at the same time, right? Well, I was pretty certain I was going to take Matisse. He was striking, rambunctious and full of vigor and I could see right off that he was so full of personality. But I loved that little wee one...the tiny little black, almost phantom poodle who was quieter but just as outgoing. He was, as his breeder described him, more subtle. And that is so true. He was and is... just adorable, very petite (now 4.7 lbs) and subtle. Everything about him was quiet and calm. (quiet until later when he discovered his voice):argh: Not such a busy fella like Matisse. Two opposites. Two litters, completely unrelated. He loved to be hugged and sit on laps for as long as anyone would hold him. And he still does. He'll play too, zoom around after Matisse in the yard. But he's still more "subtle." haha.

So as I was walking away with Matisse, I'd turn back and look at little Maurice in his ex-pen...watching me walk away. I came back. I couldn't stand it. I had told my breeder that my daughter was coming for the weekend to visit. And I only lived 20 minutes or so away from him. So as I'm walking away, looking over my shoulder, he said, "take them both home, let your daughter help you decide and bring one back." I know most breeders won't let people have two at a time. But he knew that I had had dogs for eons, was a trainer, was familiar and plus...he was so close that if I needed him, he was easy to contact. So, we all know how that worked out. My daughter and her dad who also came over convinced me to take them both. So I didn't bring one back to the breeder. I just brought him another check. (buy one, get the 2nd one half off) What a deal. :amen:

Anyhow, with lots of extra time put in, each getting their own time with me and more work than one puppy in many ways, (some ways easier) they turned out beautifully. Maurice is a joy, an angel. (with a loud voice) He's such a good fella. And fancy that...his registered name is Valcopy Maurice Goodfella. lol. He is responsive and eager to do his "job." I must make him a happy birthday time tonight. I'm very grateful to have this little fella in my life. And so is Matisse. I don't know what we'd do without him. Sure glad I listened to my daughter and her dad. I really wasn't wanting to get two too much at first. I've posted this picture before but I just love it. It shows how curious and fun loving he is...he's checking out a small crab boat of someone's. He's a great little hiking buddy and beach comber. These are not recent pictures but he still looks pretty much the same and I like these pictures.

Thank you everyone for the lovely birthday wishes for little endearing Maurice. I sometimes wish we could all have one gigantic meet up and meet all the pf poodles and peeps in person. That would be so awesome. Anyhow, yes, it certainly has been a busy birthday week.

Thank you all. :)

The giant meetup is why we need Star Trek transporters!
