I have been grooming my 10 month old spoo at home, and I am looking to grow my resources and supplies. I am in search of de-tangling spray and shampoo/conditioner opinions. She is not a show dog, but I just want to do her beautiful coat justice!
You can't go wrong with Chris Christensen Ice on Ice, but for more economical products I use Cowboy Magic, and ShowSheen (horse product). I dilute and put them in an easy to use spray bottle. For shampoo I like Chris Christensen's White on White, but they have shampoos that are for other color dogs, too. Just be careful when you spray your detangler because some of them will make your floor really slick. I do not show either.
So I have heard excellent things about "Cowboy Magic" but it is not a spray. It has raving reviews about how good it does for light tangles to intense matting. I am waiting for mine to come in for those random small matts that appear out of nowhere!!!
"Everyday Isle of Dogs Silky Coating Dog Conditioner, Jasmine & Vanilla, 16.9 Ounce"
This stuff is excellent for making Normans coat shiny and so so so soft. I work it into his fur and give him a nice massage for 5-10 minutes, then I will lightly comb him (targeting likely matted areas) rinsing it out thoroughly. This has been very helpful with tangles because of how slick it is (not oily).
As for leave-in conditioner, I have not heard of any but I would be a bit hesitant to have anything left on his fur and skin that could cause irritation. Some poodles have sensitive skin. But I am sure other members may have suggestions!!
So I got my Cowboy Magic in last night like I said I was expecting, and it came with a free spray bottle of their "shine" which supposedly also detangles!!
I used the gel on Norman last night and I think it would have helped this specific matt if I would have gotten to it sooner (too dense). BUT it did make a big difference!!!! So glad i have it, I HIGHLY suggest the Cowboy Magic 4oz on amazon, mine came with a free spray!!
