Introducing Spice!

Back in 2015, I posted this thread about a parti breeder that I thought had a nice program going:

Parti Breeder doin' it right

Little did I know that I would one day be in a position to get one of her puppies, but, well, here he is!

Crystal Creek's Summer Spice

Yes, Sugarfoot is now almost eight years old and, while we're still showing (you might even say he's in his prime, as his performance lately is pretty special, and he's five double Q's away from MACH 4), it was past time for me to get a new dog. After all, the youngster wouldn't be showing until a couple of years old, and by that time Sugarfoot would be ready for or close to retirement.

Honestly, though my heart belongs to Poodles, I also explored options in a couple of other breeds, including the Lagotto Romagnolo.

I happened to visit the Crystal Creek site, though, to see that she had a litter on the way...and the pups would be ready to go *right* at the beginning of my summer vacation. Could such perfect timing actually exist? I reached out, and it turned out she had a couple of spaces on the waiting list for the litter.

And oh, though that waiting was excruciating, throughout all the joy of watching the litter grow and waiting to see which one was right for me...and though the drive from Texas to Indiana was, shall we say, a bit far, the end result...is well worth it.

What does Sugarfoot think? Well, he's actually not impressed, but so far is being sufficiently tolerant of puppy antics.

Now the fun part begins! Wish me luck as I spend the summer enjoying my new pup and putting that all-important foundation on my new Agility superstar!

How wonderful.. I hope this means you will be around a bit more to share her with us.

Spice is lovely but I hope you will reserve the beard as Sugar's siggy style!

BTW Lily spent much of Javelin's first year pretending he didn't exist.

Haha--no beard yet, but who knows? His chin is white but so is his chest, so it might not show up as impressively as Sugar's.
Spice is gorgeous! How exciting.

How exciting, Q !! And how fun to have Sugar and Spice!
He is just beautiful! I know Dewey was not impressed at all with his new brother last fall and though they will never be snuggle buddies he does like to play with him now... sometimes. Look forward to watching Spice grow up. Your 100 days of Sugarfoot video was my first real look into the parti scene. I will definitely have to check out your Instagram. Have a great summer break!!

I was telling a friend the story about finding you on IG and realizing Spice was your new pup from Crystal Creek. As we were talking, I realized Sugarfoot was a huge influencer in me looking for Parti breeder near me, which lead me to Crystal Creek. (only 12 hours away) It was years ago and it all blends together but I do remember my husband's 'another dog picture?' face every time I showed him a new pic of Sugar. :bounce: (He's not a exactly dog person) Should I warn him it will be starting back up again? HA!

Thanks for the kind words, everyone!

Spice is doing great, already busting his moves on Crate Games and getting the hang of shaping. Later today I'm going to do a full groom on him, wish me luck!
