Sounds like your dog has the right hair and you have the know-how. You'll find you need to shave her snout, paws, and legs above a pom pom. It'll end up like the show cut. I really think the show cut came about because the poodle was originally corded. The cords were oiled. But that makes for a messy, stinky, mess. If you've got a kennel full of hunting dogs, it can be gross. So around the turn of the 20th C., the "afro" became more popular and the corded coat was bred out. Now cords are "in" again because the pulie is more popular than the poodle. People just don't understand the poodle or they wouldn't ever get any other kind of dog. Poodles rule! That is EXACTLY the info I needed! My hubby used to have dreads...he followed the Grateful Dead for awhile and had them for about 4 yrs. I have not brushed Punks hair in about 2 weeks now...yesterday was the 1st day I really sat down and separated them. It seems her hair DOES naturally grow in cords...and all this time I have been killing myself trying to keep her hair "pretty." I plan on keeping her rear shaved down and her belly as well, just so I don't worry about her being too dirty. If I get a few minutes I will take some pics of her top knot so you can see what I mean about her hair being naturally corded, hopefully it looks like your boys hair!
