Hello and welcome fellow Canadian!! I am from Ontario and breed reds. Do you have a colour preference? I can try to help you locate a breeder if you let me know what you are looking for. Hope you enjoy the forum!

OK, how weird is this...??? I also have a dachshund (her name is Juliet) and I acquired my perfect poodle princess from Arreau Red Standard Poodles!! AAAAND... we picked Lucy up in Winnipeg!!! Small world! :)

We love our mini dachsie and our standard poodle - it's been a great combination! Good luck with your search!

Yes,,it is a small world! Thanks for the warm welcome and offer to try to locate a breeder for me. I have always loved poodles and we had toy poodles growing up, but I have always wanted a standard. The colour I would really love would be red..

Plumcrazy, do you find your dachsie has a very stubborn in your face personality? I have talked with a few people and they have mentioned that...Maggie is a good dog but when she gets something in her head, she never will give up!

Welcome to the forum. I am getting a black standard next weekend from Burlington, Ontario.
You should get the Dogs Annual in Canada. There are alot of breeders in there.
There are some breeders on this forum too.
Good luck in your search.

My vet describes dachshunds as stubborn "German Varmint Dogs"!! :pound: I think you hit the nail on the head with general dachsie personality - Juliet is the smallest dog in my home, but ALL of the other dogs give way to her - even if they're eating from their bowls, all Juliet has to do is walk up to them and they leave their dinner and simply walk away - I really have to keep an eye on that little piggy or she'll eat EVERYONE'S meals! Juliet is the BEST dog with children - she absolutely would turn herself inside out to get a child to reach down and pet her but she's a BITCH (literally) with dogs she doesn't know - very "in your face"! She has no fear, even of bigger dogs (i.e., rottweilers, GSDs, dobes... she just doesn't care who she ticks off!) :) I totally love my Juliet (I had another smaller, gentler daschie who I had to escort to the rainbow bridge last May) and I don't think I could ever be without a wiener dog either! LOL!
