He looks amazing!!!!

Great lil puppy :whoo:
Thanks Todd we plan to show him which will be a challenge since red is not a color everyone likes:moneymouth: which is sad because it is so BEAUTIFUL !
WELCOME! :wave:

I think he is darling! I love red poodles! Just curious, do you plan on
getting him a puppy clip? I just love shaved poodle faces and feet! :p
He is so beautiful - awwwwhhhh look at those little paws too cute. Certainly over here the whites and blacks seem to dominate the show ring, though much to my pleasure there is a beautiful blue dog doing pretty well now and of course T's dad who is silver doing quite nicely too :whoo:.

Over there he doesn't need to be a solid colour either does he cause you guys can show the parti's? Excuse my ignorance cause I don't show, but I think over here they need to be solid - no white like on his cute little chest.

AKC = no partis
UKC = Partis and solids

We will register him with UKC and see what happens.

I think there are only 3 red CH. AKC standards in all of USA. Its worth a shot to try to get him finished. He has a nice gait for a 10 week old puppy and his conformation is not that bad. There is one breeder in our area who has red but never got the chance to talk with him because once he finishes showing he literally runs away lol
Some American clubs are more "relaxed" about the colors than others. Last time I checked true parti-colors (more than 50% white) where not able to be shown in AKC, BUT I think in the USA they can be shown in UKC and CKC events.

AKC will also allow some tiny amounts of white on solid dogs to be shown...but I am not sure how big is too big and how small is okay.

Either way if he is AKC and you want to show him, his papers can be transferred into UKC which will allow him to be shown. I think...I am sure that someone will correct me if I am wrong!

I like the name Hawk or Phoenix for a red male! How about Fireman? LOL you could call him Sparky!

Yeah he is AKC we are waiting for his ped and will send it to UKC. I don't think there is a local club in my area which is crazy because Los Angeles is a big city

I like Phoenix also
Here are some names I came up with
kelso
marley
enzo
georgie( aunts choice)
We named our apricot standard Casey...after an grateful dead song. She is like a poodle train conductor when she runs through the house with about 5 little poodles chasing after her!
You can definately show him UKC but not AKC due to his color. (white on the chest) One thing I already like about him is his head. I also noticed right away that he has a good amount of under jaw and a long muzzle. Thats great! I seem to notice there's lack of under jaw in Poodles for some reason.
I can't wait to see some body shots and gate pics if your able to take them.

Also there are a husband and wife pro handlers in Bakersfield that focus on Poodles. I believe her name is Margie Sullivan. She handles Karen Sisco's Poodle's from Sisco's Distinctive Poodles in Bakersfield. Karen Sisco is a very nice lady and always was open to answer my questions even though I didn't purchase a dog from her. My Eli is a grandchild from her Mr Hollywood and Chablis.

Anyways, welcome to the forum and Id be happy to try and answer any questions you have about showing. Even though I haven't showed Poodles yet I have plenty of experience (first hand) showing Ukc and Akc with our former breed. My husband makes showing dogs look super easy (he's soo good) so if your ever down near Modesto for a UKC show let me know if you need a handler.

We will still see what happens with AKC , its just a small amout of white. My sister has already cut it off and you can't even see the white anymore lol

IA with you on poodle muzzles !!!!!!!!!!!! that is one thing I notice they lack lower jaws ! this pup has a nice lower jaw !

It was crazy because we went to the dog show in long beach not the eukanuba but the long beach kennel club show that was on friday and this lady sitting next to me was talking about this black male in the ring. the pup was off her dog and she was saying " I love his head its nice and bitchty and refined" In my head I was like this lady needs to stop breeding if she thinks a male poodle should have a bitchy snippy head .... lol :tongue:

I will see if I can get in contact with Karen Sisco , we spoke with the breeder at jaset poodles ( her dog won eukanuba in 06 I believe and placed in westminster) a few years ago she was soooo NICE which is rare in the show world.
