Hello from IL & Request Car Chasing Training help

Our family includes a mini phantom and a small red standard. Been involved with poodles and poodle grooming for just over 6 years. Never a dull moment of silly antics, and just plain fun of working with them. Looking to chat poodles with others.

Question: Erasing car chasing habit with my red. Learned it when very young and before he joined our family. Bad, bad habit. Never quite erases, perhaps permanent. Positive training doesn't work well enough when he gets his mind set on the excitment of car chasing. Luckily it is usually from the sidewalk. Makes me sick! Finally succumbed to a shock collar with a tone allert to preserve his life within our yard. I'm not allowed to put up a fence. Anybody got any training techniques to share? I have always done all my own training, but I've never faced this one before! You know, I think being raised in a kennel environment his first six months he learned to run fast when let out in the fenced area - perhaps I can never fix it?? Thanks in advance.

welcome to the forum! chasing cars is a hard thing to fix. I dont know about such things but I hope you will get some good advice on here. Post some pix of your poos - we love pictures! I have a red female and a silver beige male.
I tired to update my settings so my photo shows up to everyone. Hopefully it will with this post.

Love your photo Pamela - standards?

actually its manage attachments. lol
Bless your hearts - I need to log off for now, but will look at them later. I've got an album set up now (no URL). I'll have to look at yours later too. Thanks for replying!!
Thanks for the links...

I had a chance to read them all tonight. I bought the shock collar, and looks like it was a good decision as I don't want anything to happen to my red boy. He is something else. He's a stronger personality type than my other poo, and needs his ego shaved down every so often. He's still young though. He keeps me on my toes. It shows when you don't work with them often enough, doesn't it? They are smart!
:welcome: to the forum. I think for things as dangerous as chasing cars, the electronic collar can be a very effective tool if you use it correctly. Let us know how it goes.
lol, yeah Caesar is awesome ☺ Did you all see the one with the pushy poodle on it? We are thinking of buying the series just to have that one. :) Wish I could help with the car chasing poodlehouse. Shadow would run the opposite way of the car! By the way, welcome to the forum ☺
