My name is Mark Keating and I live in Hudson, WI. My girlfriend Irina and I own and operate a boarding and training facility where we have been breeding Presa Canario's and Belgian Malinois. Most recently we dived into the world of Miniature Poodles because of their character, and overall working ability.
I myself grew up with poodles and once I reached a certain age, it was time to go back to my roots.
We own a 3 year old Male named Buff who I initially bought for my 90 year old grandmother who soon returned the little guy for he was a little too much and he has been with me ever since. Also, last February we purchased a 4 month old show female from Amity Kennels in Duluth Mn. Her name is Ellie and we just got her back yesterday as she is now a champion and finished her show career. Now onto the working events!
We are very excited to be part of this forum, and hope to learn lots from all the members.

Take care

Welcome to the forum Mark and Irina!

I see we have similar taste in dog breeds! I love Presa Canarios. Also, congratulations on Ellie becoming a champion.

Hope you enjoy the forum.

:welcome:
Welcome! You are really going to love working a Mini. They are definitely the performance variety of choice in our breed.

What color is your bitch?
Welcome Mark! And congrats on the new champ, now you can get on to the fun stuff. :) What are you planning to compete in?
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!
Our female is Blue although she looks black to me.
Our plan is to compete in AKC and UKC obedience, as well as some of the UKC
tracking and article search stuff.
She's really nice! Our male is nowhere near the quality, but he is very trainable and VERY driven to play. We like him allot also.
Ellie is a bitch we bought for breeding and we do plan on showing her in UKC shows as well.
Take care

Welcome! I'm originally from Greenfield, WI! Left WI for the Air Force and after retiring we now live in Bella Vista, AR. However, all my family and a best friend is still up there! I passed by that way for a UKC show in Owen in June.
Well from one cheddar head to another big hello!
You'll have to let me know when your passing through next time!

When you breed her, what direction will you go color wise? Will you try to breed for silvers and blues? If so, you should look at these stud dogs (some are actually related since Jib is Shane's uncle) :

I was tempted by the mini poodle before I found my boy. I will be glad to keep up with you to see how your girl does in performance.
I haven't given much thought to color, although Irina does like the browns!
She has been color-tested already but I can't remember the results at the moment.
Jib sure looks like a cool dog!! The agility is just awesome!
He looks to be super game, and really into you.

We haven't given much thought to studs yet either, but I think the breeder has a couple dogs in mind. I'm going to go watch that agility run again!

Take care
Mark
