For the first time ever Asher got to swim in a lake! There aren’t many places to bring a dog around me to swim. I initially went to the ‘human’ part of the lake cause I thought it’d be empty due to it being very cloudy out and not super warm and I was just gonna keep him on leash. But the human side was super busy and dogs weren’t allowed.
Which left me only with the offleash area. As most probably know I do not like going to dog parks. You never know what people will bring to the park and Asher doesn’t love rude dogs and my itty bitty Pom, Haku can get terrorized by big or overly rambunctious dogs.
I decided to give it a go and so glad I did. It was a very unusual dog park. It looked like a normal green space walk way. It was not fenced in except for the fences of the houses that ran along it but with big gaps where the path led people up to the houses/road/sidewalk. There weren’t too many dogs and all were friendly and not overly rambunctious. I did pick Haku up a few times just in case but he also did super well and didn’t react to virtually anyone.
And then one of the best things was that a lady with a lab was letting her dog swim and throwing a ball for that dog and that encouraged Asher to go into the water and swim far more than he would have just with me standing on shore.
I wish I had a life jacket for Asher just cause he’s not very ‘swimming fit’ and not a great swimmer but he still did well!
Some videos including one of my pom’s first time ever swimming (he’s a better swimmer than Asher already haha) and one of Asher leaping the fences.
