Hi All...
I have 2 toys, one is a 5 year old male toy, apricot who has had his topknot growing for years! His bangs never seem to get really long in the very front (on photo below) . Any tips on how to keep this har from breaking off and growing it a bit stronger so he has a great topknot? ;)

Appreciate any tips whatsoever!!!!!

You have a beautiful little toy! That is a top knot I aspire to create.
I’m an amateur compared to you but I seem to be having the same problem with my mini’s front hair.
I started using “Pet Picks” by Pony Pick to remove the bands for brushing so as to have less chance of breaking the hair.

I’m also using thicker bands than the thin show quality ones.

I’m anxious to hear from others!

I used to French braid topknots on my show dogs. That really worked to prevent hair breaking off. Whether you use rubber bands, scrunchies, or French braiding you still have to brush out the topknot every other day. You also need to be very, very sure that no part of the topknot is being pulled - if it is your dog will scratch the offending area and can completely destroy the topknot you have worked so hard to grow!
