Hi folks, a little over 2 weeks ago I adopted a gorgeous 16 month old black standard poodle boy,
His exuberance is phenomenal and so is his intelligence. He is my first standard, following 3 miniature poodles. It was 2000 when my first rescue Ginger, came bro my life. She was the most loving and beautiful creature imaginable and made me a poodle lover for life. She paved the way for a second baby, Prince. And when she passed away, and when I first experienced the most profound grief imaginable a 5 year old red female Amber arrived. Nothing but our joy. Prince died 2018 at 15, followed by our beloved Margeaux. A gorgeous Siamese who made the third sibling and then this summer my precious Amber had a seizure the doctor couldn’t stop. The grief again. As intense as possible. Then I searched, for breeders, rescues and ultimately Florida Poodle Rescue connected Baxter and me.
I am glad to find th is forum, and look forward to the future.

Welcome to PF. IMO there is nothing better in this world than a black standard (we have two, Lily is 11 and Javelin is 4). Right now there are three poodles at our house since we are watching my mom's small apricot mpoo while she recovers from hip replacement surgery.
Welcome! I am also in Miami with a black mini! Baxter is gorgeous!
Welcome. I have a black standard that I adore. He is also a great help to me.
Welcome! I really enjoyed your beautiful intro post and the photos of your sweet babies :love2: I'm a poodle convert too. There is nothing like them.
Welcome to you and Baxter! I am so sorry for the losses that preceded him. I know he will help you find your joy again.
Welcome to you and Baxter. You are lucky to have found such a beautiful spoo in rescue. They are hard to find here and never get advertised because the volunteers adopt them.

I loved how Ginger was your first and led to more Poodle joy in your life.
What's with all these girly-men and their frou-frou Poodles, eh? ;)

Hahaha! While camping in the wilds of the Arizona desert we met an ex-Marine who had served part of his tour in Germany. He became friends with some guys in the German army, who proudly introduced him to their 15 Standard Poodles. These dogs were used in all sorts of rescue work to find injured and dead people in disaster relief efforts
