Hello guys I am having a issue with Gardia. Ella tested positive was treated and still test positive. She has no symptoms at all wouldn't have known but for normal fecal test at shot visit. Vet said we will test again in 2 weeks didn't want to treat again back to back. She is the only dog in our house. I am not sure if this is something to freak about or if it's more normal than I know. Share the wisdom spoo lover's lol.
Reinfecting herself is important to consider. Make sure you clean up all poo in yard very well and perhaps use some cleaning wipes on her butt after she poos. Treating it an eliminating sources of reinfection is important or else she may become a chronic carrier, not necessarily a big deal for her but chronic positive tests could make it hard for having grooming or boarding appointments.
I just gave Beau his last and 5th daily dose of panacur for Giardia. Same as you, no symptoms but tested positive at a regular vet fecal test. Vet scheduled another test in 5+ weeks and said it takes a few weeks to be effective. I have no idea where he contracted it, or when. The other threads here mentioned were helpful for me too.
I used Chlorox on the dog yard after one of our dogs picked up giardia. Worked for me because I have a fairly small dog yard accessed via a dog door. It has a surface of pea gravel.
