Floppy Dogs

I consider Poodles to be “floppy dogs.”

Have you ever noticed that when they are laying in your lap, over you in bed, longways up against your side, etc., that every inch of them is touching you?

I know when Zeke comes in my lap to rest, his body bends and curves to match mine. He has his front and back legs are just in weird positions so the entire leg is touching me. When he comes in bed, ( I sleep on my side), he lays facing me and folds up his legs so his chest and belly and legs are flat up against me so he can kiss me goodnight and I can grab on like I would a stuffed animal.

When I pick him up, he is dead weight, like picking up a rag. His back legs are splayed wide open and somehow both of his front legs are up against me, again following the curves of my body.

His head also turns like an owl’s. He lays with his back to me, and before I know it he turns his head, then flips it straight back and tilted to get in the perfect spot for kisses on his ear.

I just don’t get it. Are poodles made of rubber? Do they have just cartilage and not bones?

I just love it! I wouldn’t trade my floppy dog for anything. Are all poodles floppy? Is yours?

Imagine having a floppy standard - that's what I've got. He stretches out for maximum content - I am a side sleeper and he will curl up against my legs and behind. Just tuck himself in.
